OAAA Alumni Engagement

Name: Kordell Burgess
Hometown: Richmond, VA

Year of Graduation: 2019
Major: Anthropology

Current Occupation: MBA Candidate at VCU/Management Trainee at Greentech Renewables Virginia

Advice for current UVA Community: Don't be afraid to try new activities that take you out of your comfort zone. One of the things I always tell people about my UVA experience is that I grew the most socially and learned so much about myself in the process. You cannot grow while being comfortable. If you're thinking about doing it, do it!

Favorite OAAA memory: Honestly, having the space to be Black every Friday at Black Friday with good food, good music, and good vibes surrounding me. I met so many people (friends, Deans, etc.) through OAAA that I'd encourage all of Black UVA to attend their events. And I can't forget all the laughs and good times with Ms. Carter! :)
Student Registration

We hope you’ll join us at Black Alumni Weekend (BAW) for opportunities to connect, network, and engage with UVA alumni returning to Grounds! Current UVA students can participate in select events at no cost. Please register for the events you plan to attend by Friday, April 12. Questions about BAW? Contact [email protected].
