The spring scholarship cycle is now open, featuring a wide variety of scholarships ranging from small stipends to full scholarships covering tuition and fees. Decisions are made on a rolling basis, with most scholarships awarded by April 30. Winners will see scholarship amounts applied to their accounts for the academic year 2024-2025. Amount: In-state tuition and fees - 2nd and 3rd year students who exhibit qualities of leadership, determination, generosity, and wisdom, and who demonstrate a passion for entrepreneurship.

R. H. Melton First Amendment Scholarship

Amount: $4,000 - 2nd and 3rd year students engaged in debating, student-run journalism, or the study of politics. 

Jade Song Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $3,000 (2 scholarships available) - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year students who have overcome adversity and demonstrate strong ties to their cultural backgrounds.

The Young Women Leaders Program (YWLP) and Men’s Leadership Project (MLP) are community-based mentoring programs which pair UVA undergraduate students with middle school students from the Charlottesville/ Albemarle area. Interns: Join us and hone your skills to be a more effective advocate on Grounds and in the community. Getting Word African American Oral History Project at Monticello 

From Friday, March 15-Sunday, March17

Getting Word is hosting a Black Family History Lab in collaboration with The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center. You may recall “Memories Matter,” a community history day we’ve held in years past – this year, we’ve reimagined it as a three-day program. The Lab invites local residents to connect with family history experts on how to best save family treasures (i.e. photographs, letters, books, quilts, stories, and more), sit for professional family portraits, attend genealogy and oral history workshops, and find out what community groups are doing to tell local stories – all free of charge. As members of our community continue to preserve and research their family histories, our aim is to provide resources that assist that vital work.

From Fear to Action: Thriving in a Changing Climate Resources Fair

Hosted by UVA’s Environmental Institute and Contemplative Sciences Center, Britt Wray, an expert on the psychological impacts of the climate crisis especially among young people, shares research and experiences from her journey from fear to hope and finally to action. UVA School of Medicine club GAS (Guides to Application Success)

Our goal is to provide individualized medical school application mentorship between UVA SOM students and UVA undergraduates throughout the medical school application process. The mentoring relationship will likely focus on application preparation, including extracurriculars, the primary application, school lists, secondaries, letters of recommendation, CASPer/SJT, and interview preparation/mock interviews. In March, we will match each applicant with a mentor. The process of selection of undergraduates will likely be on a first-come first-served basis for those who are applying in the upcoming 2024-2025 cycle. The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center (JSAAHC) Marketing Internship

JSAAHC offers internships to promising high school rising juniors, seniors, undergraduates, graduate students or career changers who are considering employment in the arts, history, education, nonprofit management and promotions and marketing. Our Student Advisory Council to any first-year student. We are accepting applications from second-year students enrolled in the program and any first-years who desire to be in the program. Aligned with the University’s commitment to student self-governance, the Pathway’s Student Advisory Council is an intentional effort on behalf of University leaders to include students in the implementation of the Public Service Pathways. This Council, composed of 14 undergraduate students from across Grounds, is responsible for supporting Pathway leadership in achieving their intended programmatic purpose through thoughtful ideation and implementation of programming. Appointments to the Pathway’s Student Advisory Council will be for the 2024-2025 Academic Year running June 2024 to May 2025, with a transition meeting between the old and new Council in April. You are expected to work between 3-5 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 5-10 hours total during the summer. As a Student Advisory Council member, you are a wage student employee at UVA and are compensated by the hour at $15/hour. Though guided by and supported through faculty and staff leadership, the program is by- and for- students. Check out the full job description.
